Interstate Dragways
Frequently Asked Questions
Q> Where is the track
located?
A> The track
is located 1 mile south of (MN) I-94 off
of Exit #6. From the Fargo/Moorhead area, head east to the Sabin Exit. This is
6 miles east of the MN / ND border. We are 1/2 mile south of the
Q> Are there
reserved parking spots available?
A> There are
several reserved parking spots available along the fence. The cost is $300 for
the 2006 season. You can email us at the email link for more information or to
get on the list. If you are coming in for one weekend, there are a couple of
spaces available, check at the gate for availability and price.
Q> I am on a
limited race budget, why should I race at Interstate?
A> We all know fuel costs have risen, so obviously distance to the track from your house has to be a very big factor. Another factor is the entry fees. These are the two most often used to determine where to race. Probably the most overlooked item is the cost per round. The costs of tires, race fuel, engines, etc. are the same per round no matter where you race (assuming you are not racing on a normal road or an airport runway, where your slicks WILL get ripped up and be useless on a real racetrack afterward). If you go to some tracks and get 2 time trials and lose first round, your total travel expenses for the weekend get divided into 3 rounds. At Interstate Dragways, we try to give everyone (weather permitting) 3 time trials Saturday and at least 2 time trials Sunday. Now if you lose both days first round, and do not buy-back, you have 7 rounds of racing. If the costs are the same, you get more than twice the racing for the same travel dollar. You also get at least two chances to win a race.
A> We have a smooth, consistent race track, an excellent crew, a great safety and emergency response team, clean modern showers and concessions, grass pits, easy driving from ANYWHERE, safe, concrete guard walls. (no Armco to peel off and come through the windshield).
A> The Fargo Moorhead area offers more ammenities than any other area dragstrip has to offer. A ten minute drive from the track gives you more for the entire family. More motels, more shopping, more restaurants, more sporting goods stores, more amusement attractions (movie theaters, go carts, mini golf, zoos, museums, etc.)
A> Free overnight camping. No pit bike or 4-wheeler fees.
Q> I’ve heard the track is for sale, is that true?
A> Yes, the track is for sale.
Q> Why sell the track?
A> The owners feel a change is necessary, mainly for personal reasons. There are many rumors out there; none of them are true. We will continue to run Interstate Dragways. The track is NOT in financial trouble. We have NOT lost our NHRA sanction. We will give the racers the best value for their race dollar.
